Holiday Handbell Concert by The Brasstown Ringers on December 7

The Brasstown Ringers will present their eleventh annual concert of holiday handbell music at 7:30 pm Friday, December 7 in the Community Room of theJohn C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, N.C. . The concert is free and open to the community.

Founded in 1992 by Pat and Henry Meinecke, the Brasstown Ringers have grown from a small group of seven ringers, to a fourteen member ensemble playing six octaves of Schulmerich hand bells interwoven with five octaves of Whitechapel bells, five and a half octaves of choir chimes and various percussion instruments. Each player handles up to four bells, while some individuals may play as many as eight or more during the course of a piece. The Brasstown Ringers will present a new program of Christmas songs from around the world.

North Carolina members of the Brasstown Ringers are Elaine Bagley, Ida Mae Holcomb, Joan Marble and Robin Stevenson of Murphy; Steve & Linda Holcomb of Marble; Henry Meinecke of Brasstown. The Georgia contingent includes Lori, Bruce and Scott Brunner of Morganton; Liza Lawrence of Blue Ridge; Glenda Wattenbarger of Epworth, Joyce Knappenberger of Blairsville and Travis Vaughn of Atlanta. The director is Pat Meinecke of Brasstown. The group will be joined by Anne Merkel from Young Harris, GA on flute

The Brasstown Ringers will also be performing at Blue Ridge Historic Courthouse on West Main St., Blue Ridge, GA on Saturday, Dec 8th at 7:00 pm. and at First Presbyterian Church in Franklin, NC on Sunday, Dec. 9th at 4:00 pm.
