Journal of a living lady
By Nancy White Kelly #312

"Teas from the heart"

Teas from the Heart Ministry recently hosted a welcoming tea for newcomers to the area. Valet parking was provided while tuxedoed gentlemen escorted the new arrivals inside the home of Ken and Phyllis Ott of Hiawassee.

Several volunteers assisted with the preparation and decoration. Others greeted. Sumptuous food was served amidst laughter and fellowship.

Following the meal, Emily Rogers, a resident of Hayesville, N.C., provided special music. She began her music ministry at the age of five. Now a student at North Georgia College, Miss Rogers was part of the Trinity Trio, a well-known Gospel group.

The inspirational speaker was Mrs. Linda Davis, an active member of Truett Memorial Baptist Church in Hayesville. Mrs. Davis, a 14 year cancer survivor, frequently shares her testimony with churches and other groups in the community. The group of women listened intently as Mrs. Davis related, with a mixture of humor and advice, her experience of being a newcomer to the area several years ago.

This well-coordinated event culminated with strangers establishing new friendships and promises of follow-up in the near future.

Teas from the Heart Ministry is a local, non-profit organization recognized the IRS. The focus of this non-denominational group is to link ladies with each other and to provide spiritual encouragement.
