CLAY COUNTY MASTER GARDENER VOLUNTEER ASSOCIATION INSTALLS NEW BOARD FOR 2008
The CCMGVA held their Annual Meeting and Christmas Party at the Brasstown Community Center on Friday evening. Silas Brown, Extension Service Advisor to the group, installed the new officersand board for the coming year. President - Linda Westergard, Vice President - Jill Long, Secretary - Sandy Nicolette, and Treasurer - Cecile Thurston. CCMGVA is an North Carolina Extension Service sponsored group whose purposes are to learn more about gardening, to share this knowledge with the citizens of Clay County, and to promote natural beauty by installing public gardening projects in our communities. Prior to membership, candidates complete
a training course about good gardening practices. We will begin a new course in mid-February. If you would like to attend the new training classes, or if you would like to suggest a project for the group, application forms are available from the Extension office.
Rounding our the board for 2008 are: Membership Chair - Millie Bayne, Hospitality Chair - Kathleen Tibbets, Education Chair - Jan Waldron, Butterfly Garden Chair - Cheryl Sunier, Administrative Chair - Jane Forster, Cherokee Chair - Elo'y Bailey, Newsletter Editor - Jean Helms, Column Editor - Jill Long, and Ex-officioAdvisor - Silas Brown.
