Luncheon cost is $11. Joan Wallace will present the program, "An American Indian's Heritage." Old Unicoi Chapter serves Towns, Union and Fannin Counties. The Blue Ridge Mountains Chapter of the MOAA to meet at Moscetto's The Blue Ridge Mountains Chapter of the MOAA will meet at 11:30 Am Monday January 21, 2007 at Moscetto's Restaurant in Young Harris Georgia. Lunch will be served about 12:00 PM. The restaurant is located on Hwy 76, Young Harris, Georgia. It is across the street from Young Harris College near the "church end" of the campus. Our own Shirley Uphouse will be the guest speaker. She will tell some of the ways dogs help, us in war, in search and rescue, locating drugs and explosives. REACH of Clay County is holding a sexual assault support group for women in Hayesville. Call (828) 389-0797. Stroke Support A stroke support group meets every third Thursday of each month. The meetings are in the large conference room at Murphy Medical Center. Medical advisor is Dr. Ken Cassell. Al-Anon Meetings Al-Anon meets at the Chatuge Regional Hospital in Hiawassee, Ga. on Sunday evenings at 8 p.m.; every Tuesday from noon until 1:30 p.m. at the Young Harris Regional Library conference room; each Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Mountain Presbyterian Church in Blairsville, Ga.; and every Thursday at noon at the Episcopal Church of The Good Shepherd in Hayesville. Call (706) 896-6951. Free Diabetes classes offered Every Wednesday between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., diabetes instruction is available free of charge at the Moss Memorial Library in Hayesville. The emphasis will be on understanding what diabetes is and how to do carbohydrate counting. Bring your logbooks, questions and meters with you. Family members are also welcome. Free WRAP classes Free weekly WRAP classes are being offered every Tuesday from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. in Clay County at the Hayesville office of Murphy Counseling (the old Smoky Mountain Center). Wellness Recovery Action Planning, i.e. WRAP, is a 10-week course that teaches you an approach for managing mental health and/or substance abuse symptoms that are interfering with your life. WRAP can provide you with HOPE that you can recover and reach for your goals! Certified facilitators are employees of Meridian Behavioral Health Services and have reached a place in their own recovery to offer hope, education and support to others. Classes are free and you can begin at any time. Come join us as we explore proven ways to regain our wellness. There is HOPE for a better life! OTHER Daughters of the British Empire Daughters of the British Empire (DBE) is hoping to establish a local chapter in the North Georgia/Western North Carolina mountains area and would like to contact eligible women. The organization ,which has been in existence for nearly a century has been a common bond for women of British heritage living in the USA. Members, joining together in fellowship, contribute significantly to the good of their local communities and support the four retirement homes for men and women established by the DBE. The DBE is a charitable,nonprofit, nonpolitical American organization and membership is extended to women of British or British Commonwealth birth or ancestry and to women married to men of British or British Commonwealth birth.
