WCU students inducted into honor society in education

Two residents of Hayesville in Clay County are among 33 Western Carolina University students recently inducted into the Mu Eta chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society in education.

Delaney Caitlin Holloway graduated from Hayesville High School in 2004. The daughter of Jim and Sharon Holloway, she is a senior majoring in education.

Kenneth Lee Rowland Jr. graduated from Hayesville High School in 1992. The son of Kenneth and Brenda Rowland, he is a senior majoring in education.

The purpose of Kappa Delta Pi is to recognize scholarship and to enhance professional development among education majors, including students majoring in communication disorders, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Initiation requirements include a 3.0 grade point average for undergraduates, along with formal admission to an education program, and an established record of excellence in each student's course of study. The Mu Eta chapter has been active on WCU's campus since 1970.
