Hammered Dulicimer Virtuoso at The Folk School

Sam Rizzetta - a nationally known performer and builder of hammered dulcimers - will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, January 11 at the John C.

Campbell Folk School in Brasstown. Admission is free.

Hailing from Inwood, West Virginia, Sam Rizzetta has been a performer, as well as a designer and builder of hammered dulcimers for more than 30 years. His performance credits include the Kennedy Center and the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. and popular public radio shows A Prairie Home Companion and Mountain Stage. He founded the dulcimer quartet Trapezoid in 1975.

Many performers play Sam Rizzetta's instruments and his dulcimers have been featured by The Smithsonian Institution, the National Folk Festival and Fine Woodworking magazine. He plays both traditional and original music for the dulcimer and has numerous recordings which feature his handmade, experimental instruments.
