Hazel Mauda Beal
Mrs. Beal was a native of Macon County, NC; she was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Ollie Alcie Donna Hampton McMahan. Hazel was employed by Van Raalts Hosiery and was a nurses aide for several years. She was a member of Bealtown Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school. She enjoyed riding horses, cooking, spending time with grandkids and crocheting. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Chipman Beal in 1970; two sons, Douglas Beal in 1967 and Cecil Byers in 2002; one daughter, Ollie Lariscy in 1987. She is survived by two sons, Rev. Arthur Beal and his wife Anne of Monticello, FLand Lawrence Beal of Hayesville, NC; three daughters, Betty Logan and her husband Ted of Hendersonville, NC, Frankie Roberson and her husband Bob and Margaret Scaglione all of Murphy, NC; one sister, Shirley Leonard of Springfield, OH; twenty five grandchildren, fifty great grandchildren, sixteen great-great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, December 30, 2007 at the Townson Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy, NC. Rev. Arthur Beal officiated. Music provided by Dean Jones. Burial in the Beal Cemetery in Murphy, NC. Pallbearers Chip Beal, Tim Beal, Billy Taylor, Kit Little, Lonnie Reece and Ken Beal. Honorary pallbearers will be Nick Beal, Flip Beal, Doug Beal and Floyd Byers. In lieu of flowers memorials may be In Memory of Hazel Maude Beal to the Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home Activities Department, 4130 US Hwy 64 East, Murphy, NC, 28906.
