Coffee with the Poets

Coffee with the Poets, a monthly gathering of poets and those who enjoy poetry, meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at Phillips and Lloyd Book shop on the square in Hayesville, NC. Crumpets Dessertery serves delicious desserts, coffee and tea. Come and read your poetry Wednesday, January 23 at 10:30 a.m. Featured this month is Glenda Beall, poet and writer from Hayesville. THE FIRST POETS AND WRITERS

The first Poets and Writers Reading Poems and Stories for 2008 will be held at John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 21. Two writers are featured each month. Richard Argo, fiction writer, from Murphy, NC and Peg Russell who will read poetry are featured this month. The community is invited to enjoy this free and interesting hour with our mountain writers. The Blue Ridge Mountains Chapter

The Blue Ridge Mountains Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) meets the third Monday of each month at various area restaurants. All active duty, retired and reserve military and public health service officers, and warrant officers are invited to attend.

Blue Ridge Mountains Chapter of the Military Officers Association

The Blue Ridge Mountains Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America met on December 10, 2007 at the Old Hiawassee Grill, Hiawassee, for its annual Christmas party. Thanks were expressed to Michael Annast for arranging the delicious buffet dinner.

It was announced that Jane Tucker was in the hospital with pneumonia. We all wish her well.

The only business of the evening was the installation of new officers for the year 2008. The following people were sworn in:

President - Walt Shumway

1st Vice President - Jim Reynolds

2nd Vice President - John Bayne

Secretary - Trish Reynolds Treasurer - Jim Ferrell The next meeting will be a luncheon on the third Monday of January at Moschetto's Restaurant in Young Harris.
