Mountain Community chorus begins spring season

The thirty-fourth season of the Mountain Community Chorus will begin with its first rehearsal session of Monday, February 11th, with registration and new member auditions beginning at 6:00 P.M. in the Clegg Recital Hall at Young Harris College. All regular members will begin their Spring registration during that first hour along with auditions for all new/prospective members. As usual, more men (especially tenors) are encouraged to join us. Our Christmas concerts were very well balanced in terms of voice parts, and we hope to maintain this balance. This is not to discourage new sopranos and altos, but these parts have generally been well covered.

The concert performances will be on Friday, May 2nd, at 8:00 and on Sunday, May 4th, at 3:00 P.M. in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church in Murphy, NC. The last MCC performances in Murphy were the ELIJAH excerpts several years ago. This Spring will focus on The Good Earth, its creation and preservation, a number of exciting spirituals, a group called "Alleluias and Hallelujahs", and, of course, the smaller groups of the Women's Chorus, the Men's Chorus, and the Chamber Choir. The selections offered by these groups will be related to the general focus of the program. Put these dates on your calendars and and join us, either as a singer or as an audience member.
