Get A Leash on LIFE!

During the holiday season it is common to make resolutions for better health, weight loss, and even to "take time to smell the roses!" At the Humane Society Mountain Shelter we offer everything you need to make your resolutions a reality.

Better health is a given when spending time at the shelter. Animals provide a form of therapy that money cannot buy. Scientific research has shown that the love of a pet helps to lower blood pressure. They are sure to put a smile on your face- some may even solicit a grin or a laugh! Simply spending time with the animals while they are in our temporary safehaven will not only improve your health, but the health and life of these special animals as well.

The most common resolution of weight loss is free for the taking here at the shelter. Mountain climbing with a dog is a great way to shed some excess pounds. The shelter's location amidst the beautiful mountains offers quiet and peaceful walking for the beginner to the advanced. The shelter dogs are happy to volunteer their time to walk with you providing you both companionship and protection and for those beginners even an occasional "pull" back up the hill!

While spending time at the shelter you will be offered a range of opportunities from dog walking to cat loving! Bathing dogs is rewarding in that it offers both therapy and comedy to your daily routine. If you have a little daredevil in youbathe a cat!!! Rocking the cats and kittens to sleep offers the benefits of relaxation and meditation. Reading a book while cuddling with the felines is sure to please your senses.

There is no charge to turn those stale resolutions into reality here at the shelter! Have you ever noticed that the animals always stop to smell the roses? It's time for you to do the same. Volunteer today because at the end of each leash is a LIFE that needs YOU just as much as you need a NEW LEASH ON LIFE!!!!!

Please remember the Humane Society always needs your help with donations. For information about adoption, placing an animal in our temporary safe haven, sponsoring a pet, or our wish list- please call 706-781-3843!
