"It was great!" - "Don't change anything!"

These are some of the most common comments kids made after Super Saturday last year. Now it is time for Super Saturday 2008, an enrichment program for kids in grades 3 through 8. Over 200 kids are expected to attend classes ranging from science to art to hip-hop dancing at Tri- County Community College for the first three Saturdays in March.

"We are starting our program a few weeks earlier this year so that we don't conflict with spring sports programs," says Jeff Larson, director of Super Saturday. "We hope this will allow some of the kids who haven't been able to attend in the past to join us this year." Several new classes are being offered including "Sing! Sing! Sing!," "Found Object Jewelry Making," and "Enameling," or the art of fusing colored glass to a metal backing. The fitness and weight training class, "CSI Murphy, " "Let's Pretend," and "Design Your Own Web Page" will also return. Last year the web page design class built a new web site for Super Saturday. This year they are also adding a computer graphics class where students will learn to work with art and photos on the computer. The very popular Beauty Basics and Kitchen Magicians classes will also be back again.

"It is very exciting to see the students building and launching rockets, learning to play chess, learning martial arts, creating various art projects, and just having a great time," said Dr. Larson.

All students will receive a Super Saturday T shirt. On March 15th, at the end of Super Saturday, students will gather for pizza and soft drinks and a demonstration hour. "It is a chance for our students to show off what they have been working on for the last few weeks," said Dr. Larson.

Students in Cherokee and Clay County schools should be receiving a brochure at school, and additional brochures are available at the Murphy Public Library, and at Chatuge Family Practice and Peachtree Internal Medicine.

The brochure will also be available along with additional information at the student designed web site: www.super-saturday. org. For additional information on Super Saturday call 837-8131, 837-5718 or 361-1196.
