Dinner and the Theatre at Young Harris

Each spring semester at Young Harris College brings the opportunity for an evening of international dining and theatre. This year Cathy Cox, president of Young Harris College, is pleased to announce that Theatre Young Harris will present a performance of Thoroughly Modern Millie following the annual Café Ole dinner offered by the students of the International Club and Dr. Meg Gring Whitley.

Thoroughly Modern Millie, winner of four 2004 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, will be performed February 21-23, 2008, at 8:00 p.m. in the Glenn Auditorium. Based on a book by Richard Morris and Dick Scanlan, new music by Jeanine Tesori, new lyrics by Dick Scanlan, and original story and screenplay by Richard Morris, Thoroughly Modern Millie is set in 1922 Manhattan. Enter Millie Dillmount, fresh from Kansas and determined to make a new life for herself. New York City is full of intrigue and jazz; women are entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behavior are changing forever. Millie's "modern" plan is to work as a stenographer to an eligible bachelor and then marry him. Alas, the plan goes awry in a flurry of flappers, unexpected romances, sinister plots, disguises, impersonations, and hair'sbreadth escapes. Will the villains be foiled? Will Millie find true love? Of course! But how? Join us for this madcap Charleston of a show, full of toe-tapping songs, sparkling dance, and exuberant fun.

Theatre reservations or ticket information may be obtained by calling the Box Office at (706) 379-4307. The Box Office will observe the following hours:

Café Ole will be held from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Hesed House on Friday, February 22 and Saturday, February 23.
