Taking care of your cat's and dog's weight

The American Kennel Club and Pfizer Animal Health have combined efforts to develop a very important health initiative for our canine family members. Their efforts have resulted in February being declared the National Canine Weight Check Month. Lake Chatuge Animal Hospital is participating by offering free weight checks and counseling that will include dogs and cats, because a high percentage of dogs and cats (20-50% depending on which study is sited) are morbidly overweight. Many diseases are associated with obesity in dogs and cats that includes diabetes, heart and respiratory conditions, arthritis, skin and GI disorders to name a few. Pets that are kept at a healthy weight and good body condition have been shown to live longer. Helping pets live long and healthy lives is what the American Kennel Club, Pfizer Animal Health and Lake Chatuge Animal Hospital is all about. To enroll your pet in the February free weight check program and have an opportunity to win a prize, call Lake Chatuge Animal Hospital @ 706-896-1244.
