HHS going to WNC regional wrestling tournament

GINGER LUSTY/Sentinel photo At the Smoky Mountain Conference Wrestling Tournament on Saturday Feb. 2nd the team show their winnings. The winners for the tournament were Tim Shaffer, Kevin McCreary placed 1st, Tyler Benson placed 2nd, Jefrey Updike placed 2nd, Sam Lusty and Justin Guffey placed 3rd.

Hayesville goes to the WNC Regional this Friday. There are 30 1A & 2A team in the regional so the competition is very tough. Sixteen wrestlers qualify in each weight class by their over all win percentage. This means that a 50% or better should get in.

The regional wrestling tournament is this Friday and Saturday at North Henderson High School. We will travel to North Henderson this Friday afternoon by bus and stay over night in Hendersonville.

Schedule:

Friday: 11:30 dismiss to field house

12:00 on bus to Hendersonville

2:30 arrive and check in to Quality Inn (828) 692-7231

3:10 back on bus to North Henderson for weigh-in

5:00 Round 1 & 2 Championship 1st round followed by Quarterfinals

10:00 back to Quality Inn

Saturday 7:45 on bus to North Henderson

8:30 weigh-in

9:30 Consolations/ Semifinals/Consolations

1:00 Consolations and consolation semifinals

5:00 Championship Finals and Consolation Finals

8:00 return to Hayesville field house
