Velma Chastain Velma Chastain, age 80, formerly of Hayesville, NC. died Sunday, February 24, 2008 in Kershaw County, SC. She was a homemaker and the daughter of the late Tyrus and Bessie Garrett. She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Roosevelt Chastain; a daughter Janie Abbott; seven brothers and sisters, China Garrett, Viola Chastain, Vernie Chastain, Rosco Edwards, Theina Voilis, Bessi Hampton, and Vassie Mary Brooks. She is survived by her seven children; Charlotte Crouch, Joan Sinclair, Anita Waters, Tracy Chastain, Ronnie Chastain, Don Chastain, and Trisha Chastain; one sister, Martha Frye; two brothers T.W Garrett, and T.J Garrett; numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the Townson Rose, Frank Rose Sr. Memorial Chapel in Hayesville, NC. The Rev. Michael Chastain will officiate. Burial will be in the Hayesville Baptist Presbytarian Cemetery in Hayesville, NC. Pallbearers will be Ricky Moss, Michael Roberts, Wallace Chastain, Billy Joe Chastain, Dean Smith and Dustin Chastain. Honorary Pallbeaers will be Charlie Chastain and Clifford Chastain The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at the Townson Rose Chapel in Hayesville, NC.
