Leon Dale Henderson
Mr. Henderson was a native of Cherokee County, NC and the son of the late Leonard and Mindy Lee Henderson. He was a US World War II Army Veteran. He was an employee of Baker Furniture in Andrews, NC. He loved farming and enjoyed his children. Leon was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Don Henderson. He is survived by his wife, Lorrine Morris Henderson; one son, Danny Henderson of Mars Hill, NC; two step-sons, Howard Cable of Murphy, NC and William Phillip Dawkins of Acworth, GA; two stepdaughters, Linda Bryant of Murphy, NC and Donna Portas of Ducktown, TN; one brother, Leonard Henderson, Jr. of Hayesville, NC; one sister, Hubbie Anderson and her husband Kendall of Hayesville, NC; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 23, 2008 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy, NC. Rev. Harold Weeks will officiated. Burial was in the Henderson Family Cemetery in Blairsville, GA. Pallbearers will be Anthony Bryant, Phillip Dawkins, Lewis Chambers, Steve Chambers, Randy Foster and Junior Dillanger. The family will received friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, February 22, 2008 at the Townson- Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy, NC.
