Renovations of Hayesville Hotel
We've taken the old awnings down for many reasons;

1) T he awnings, built in the late 1970's, are now rotting and in need of major repair. T hey were incorrectly attached to the building with only 4" bolts which are a danger to the public.

2) Since the sidewalks are being poured around the posts, we felt now was the time to take the posts down. Now, the sidewalk will be beautifully smooth. We're also excited to have trees planted in the planters. Without the large awnings, the trees can grow tall and wide, making a beautiful entrance to the town.

3) Architecturally, we want to bring character and the correct time period back to the building and the town. E ach of the buildings in Hayesville have their own unique style. With the same awnings all the way around the square, it homogenizes the look and feel of the town. Bringing individuality to each shop and business will enhance the town and create better commerce. After looking at the success of towns like Blue Ridge, I think it is important that our town enhance its heritage and regain its character.

4) Within the next two years, we will be remodeling the old hotel and tuning it into an art gallery and artist studios. We will be putting in new awnings, windows and wood doors in keeping with the style of the building. We look forward to being a part of the resurgence of the town.

Thank you for your interest in our project. Sincerely, Cathy Low and Paul Lorentzen (Owners of the building)
