What Do You Think?
What Do You Think? By: Margie Weathers

The question is: " What would you like to see happen as an outcome of the March 13-16 Design Charrette?"

Mayor Harrell Moore's answer is concerned with Hayesville's prosperity/ " face lift for the town, something that will draw more businesses and bring people into the area."

Rob Tiger, businessman and president of the Clay County Communities Revitalization Association ( CCRA), the group sponsoring the design charrette, wants a template for future development, one that we can implement as we are able.

Louise Lorentzen, owner of the Garden Shoppe, says: " I would like to see the old buildings around the square brought back to their original character, reflecting the period in which they were built. This would make the town more interesting. Another important thing is signage on Hwy. 64 that will attract visitor to the downtown area.

Bill Brooks, Clay County native and OT employee for 38 years, now Chairman of the Board of Elections, would like to se something highlighting the town of Hayesville in the new roundabout. He also considers the maintenance of the downtown- everything clean and in good order- to be a priority.

Your opinion is important. Take a moment to reflect on what your vision is for downtown Hayesville. Complete the questionnaire and return it to Tiger's on the Square, or mail it to : CCRA, P.O. Box 1553, Hayesville, NC 28904 or go to www.cccra.net and complete this form on line.
