Letter to the Editor:

Dear Editor:

With all the political hoopla nationwide and wth all the expressed opinions there is a lot of talk about races for

U.S. Senate, U.S. Congress, for governor etc. Locally, I want to draw attention to the State House and State

senate races, particvularly the House District # 120 now occupied by Rep. Roger West of Peachtree, near Murphy.

Roger has proven to be a huge vote getter and has run unopposed in this area. It incudes Cherokee, Clay, Graham

and most of Macon counties. Since there s no announced opposition to Roger at this time, I felt moved to express my thoughts about this Legislator. He is a quiet, likeable, highly intelligent mountain man that has a hard fast rule

to himself. This directs his actions towards common sense votes in the Legislature, common sense solutions to constituent problems and the willingness to devote 14 to 16 hours a day to his effort as a State Representative here in the far, far west. As of this time there are no rumors of opposition to him in the Primary or General election. As a 16 year veteran in the State Senate, it is easy to simply say, "Nice going, Roger", "Keep up the good work!"

In closing please note that with the corruption centering around the Speaker of the House now in prison, Rep. Paul Miller in Federal prison, Rep. Thomas Wright under an indictment for approximately $400.00 and all are Democrats as well as former Sentator Frank Ballance, also in prison, of Warren County. Partially speaking lets face it, this could be a big Republican year in North Carolina.

Respectfully submitted. Bob Carpenter State Senate, Retired.
