COMING UP MARCH: Diabetes Workshop:

On Wednesday March 5 there will be a gathering at the Moss Library in Hayesville for those affected by diabetes or in need of information. Whether newlydiagnosed or long-time diabetics, we are all curious about counting carbohydrates, food selection and preparation, exercise, our medications and possible complications.

Doctor Ellen Andrews is organizing this meeting, to be held between 4:30 and 6:00 PM. There will be instructional materials available, including brochures and magazines. Numerous resources are always available at the library as well.

Feel free to bring your log books, glucose meters, recipes and tips. We welcome your questions, stories, and suggestions about how to make life better for diabetics in our area. For information, call the library at 389-8401.

The NCWN (Netwest ) Poetry Critique

The March 2008 meeting of the DAR Chapter will be held at The Old Hiawassee Grille Fireside Room in Hiawassee, GA Saturday, March 8 at 10:15 AM. A member of the State DAR Speaker's Staff will feature a program on "Meadow Garden," a DAR memorial in Augusta, Georgia, to George Walton, who was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. MOAA March Luncheon Meeting

NOTE WE ARE MEETING 1 WEEK EARLIER THAN NORMAL!!!

The March meeting of the Blue Ridge Mountains Chapter of the Military Officers Association will be held on Monday, March 10, the second Monday instead of the usual third Monday. The meeting will be held at Crossroads Restaurant in Young Harris, GA at 11:30. Lunch will be served about 12 noon. The guest speaker this month will be Dr. Ellen Andrews. All Active Duty, National Guard, Reserve, Retired and Former Military and Public Health Service officers and warrant officers are invited to attend. TCCC Offers Free Business Classes

The Small Business Center at Tri-County Community College (TCCC) will hold a series of business classes in March. The free classes will be in the Patterson Building at the TCCC Main Campus from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Scheduled classes are: Reach Your Customers with Marketing Design, March 10; Wage and Hour Laws, March 11; Selling on E-Bay, March 17; and How Much Do I Charge?, March 18.

Democratic Pot Luck Dinner

Design Charrette Coming!

Design Charrette Thursday, 13 March, 6:30 p.m. at Truett Baptist Church's fellowship hall. A covered dish dinner will kick off the first session with the team from NC State School of Design. Allison-Bristol VFW Post Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner

Allison-Bristol VFW Post is holding its Annual Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner on March 15, 2008, from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Senior Center on Ritter Road. Donations are $6.00 . Tickets are available in front of Ingles on Saturday March 8th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets are also available from any VFW members and a limited number will be available at the door. Come join us or take home your dinners. The winner of our Shot Gun Raffle will be chosen at the dinner. Support your Veterans and the programs that they sponsor.

March Dance schedule at Hayesville Senior Center:

Hooray Hooray, Winter is on the downside and it's not so cold to adventure out this Friday and/or hopefully Friday March 21st for this Month's dances which will be held at the Hayesville Senior Center on Ritter Road beginning 7:30PM.

Live music will be provided by Dave Bartens who plays and sings your favorites from Big Band Swing, Country. Two-Step & Line Dancing, Classic 50's, along with Latin Cha-Cha's, Rhumbas, Tango's, Walzes and an occasional Polka. Whatever your choice is I'm sure Dave can fulfill it.

We offer door prizes, plenty of finger food, sweets & soft drinks all for a $5 donation per person. If you're not a dancer, just want to learn a little, or get out for an enjoyable night with some great folks join us and you won't be dissapointed. Notice of Upcoming Events Spring Roadside Trash Pickup and Rally

The Tough on Trash Coalition of Clay announces its 3rd County- Wide Pick-up and Rally on the Square. Concerned citizens are invited to join the Coalition in collecting roadside trash from Monday thru Saturday Noon, March 24-29.

Orange bags will be available Wednesday, March 19 thru Friday, March 28 at three locations-

• United Community Bank • Moss Memorial Library

• The Market Full bags should be left beside State Highways for NCDOT collection.

The Spring Rally will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 29th on the Square. Features to include:

• Litter pick-up tally

• Information on Financial Benefits of Recycling

• Details of the Governor's Anti-Littering Initiative

• Display of Student Made Trash to Treasures Art

• Music and Refreshments
