Lela Myrtle Sparks
Mrs. Sparks was born Sunday, March 14, 1915 in Towns County, GA to the late Virge Groves and the late Margaret Brown Groves. She was a member of Many Forks Baptist Church and was preceded in death by husband, Luther Sparks, son, Jimmy Sparks, daughters, Brenda and Stella Sparks. Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Margie and Max Payne of Brasstown, NC, daughter, Annie Stephens daughter & son-in-law, Bernice and Lloyd Henderson, daughter, Frances Sparks, daughter & son-in-law, Marilyn and Kenneth Ivester, daughter, Laura Stamey, daughter, Patsy Harper all of Young Harris, GA, sisters, Hazel Holloway of Gastonia, NC and Faye McAlllister of Canton, OH, 20 grandchildren, 35 greatgrandchildren and a great-great grandson. Funeral services were held Sunday, March 2, 2008 at 3:30 P.M. from the Many Forks Baptist Church with Rev. R.L. Martin, Rev. Jr. Killian and Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating. Music was provided by Nola Nichols. Interment was in Many Forks Baptist Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were: Odell Ivester, Jennings Ivester, Brian Ivester, Jeff Stamey, Curtis Stephens, Jamey Sparks, Brock Harper and Byron Harper. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to Many Forks Cemetery Fund.
