USDA Farm Service Agency

The USDA Farm Service Agency is currently having sign up for Cherokee, Clay and Graham Counties for Livestock Compensation Program. Livestock producers can sign up to receive benefits for feed losses due to drought. The feed loss must have occurred during 2007 and be directly related to the drought. Payments will be based on multiplying the National rate for each livestock category by the number of each type of livestock. The livestock categories include adult beef and dairy cattle, nonadult cattle over 500 lbs., all sheep. goats, sows, and boars over 235 lbs. and other swine as well as poultry. For more information call the Farm Service Agency at 837-2721 Ext. 2 or from Graham County 479-4108 Ext. 2 Currently there is no deadline.
