Good Shepherd Church to host Christian Healing Workshop
Norma Dearing

In carrying out Jesus' command to heal the sick (Luke 9:4 ), a Christian healing ministry named The International Order of St. Luke the Physician was formed in San Diego in 1932 to serve this need. Today there are more than 7500 chapters of the Order of St. Luke in North America, consisting of clergy, laymen and medical professionals who comfort the sick through prayer and the laying on of hands.

The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Hayesville offers this ministry to the four-county area through its sanctioned River of Healing Chapter. On Saturday, March 29, a workshop on the healing power of prayer will be held at Good Shepherd. All who are interested in this vital ministry welcome to attend.

The program will begin at 9:45 a.m. in the Parish Hall and end at 4:30 p.m. Topics will include Inner Healing, Soaking Prayer, Forgiveness and Generational Healing and will conclude with Eucharist at 3:30 p.m. A special evening service will be held at 7:00 p.m., featuring worship, instruction and healing.

Norma Dearing, noted authority on Christian healing, will conduct the program. She has been active in this ministry in America and abroad for more than 25 years, serving much of that time as a prayer minister with her father-in-law, the late Rev. Frank Dearing, a pioneer in this field. She later served as the director of prayer ministry at Christian Healing Ministries in Jacksonville, FL, where she founded the School of Healing Prayer and developed the Foundations of Healing Prayer Teaching Series. She currently hosts a religious radio program, "The Healing Touch," broadcast daily throughout thirty states.

Atlanta Evangelist Jarvis Emill Bridges, a popular Gospel singer, will be the Praise and Worship Leader during the workshop and at the evening service.

Rev. John Rice, pastor at the Church of the Good Shepherd, invites all interested clergy, laymen and medical personnel to attend these sessions as a means of comforting those with physical and emotional needs.

The price of the workshop is $20, which includes lunch. Registration is requested before March 21. Late registrations will be accepted. The public is invited to attend the evening service at no charge. The church is located on HW #64 in Hayesville, one mile east of the traffic light at Kerr's Pharmacy.
