Billy Brown

Billy Brown, 50, of Andrews died Tuesday (March 4, 2008) in a Macon County, NC hospital. He was a native of Clay County, but had lived in Cherokee County for most of his life. He was the son of the late Jay Brown and Irene Conard Brown Chance. Billy had worked as a roofer and was a member of the Andrews First Assembly of God.

Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Debra Russell Brown; three daughters, Billie Brown Gordon of Andrews, and Angie Turner and Kim Johnson both of Cartersville, GA; a son, Anthony Taylor of Abbeville, SC; a step-daughter, Tawana Birchfield of Andrews; two sisters, Polly Chance of Andrews and Betty Fenimore of Murphy; six brothers, Allen Brown and Robert E. Brown both of Marble, Sam Brown of Murphy, Jerry L. Brown of Topton, Claude "Dan" Brown of Chatsworth, GA, and David J. Brown of Andrews; and a granddaughter who was his fishing buddy, Katie Birchfield.

Funeral services were at 2:00 PM Friday (March 7) in the Andrews First Assembly of God with the Revs. Mike Barres and Harold Stiles officiated.

The family were received friends from 12-1:45 Friday afternoon at the Andrews First Assembly of God prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Billy Brown to Bill's Forever Garden, PO Box 1403, Andrews, NC 28901 or the Angel Home Health Hospice, PO Box 389, Bryson City, NC 28713.

Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews in charge of all arrangements.
