John Stewart

John A. "Ott" Stewart, 96, of Hayesville died Wednesday (March 12, 2008) in a Clay County care center. A native of Towns County, GA, he had lived in Clay County most of his life. He was the son of the late John Alec and Arlie Brown Stewart. John was a retired truck driver for Clay Milling Company. He was a member of the Many Forks Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Tina Hyatt Stewart; two sons, Alton Stewart of Waldorf, MD and John D. Stewart of Hayesville; two step-daughters, Elaine Mull of Hayesville and Dorothy Marshall of Piedmont, SC; a step-son, Michael Hill of Ellijay, GA; and six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and three step-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday (March 15) in the Many Forks Baptist Church where the Revs. Billy Stiles and R.L. Martin officiated. Interment in the church cemetery. Pallbearers: Tony, Johnny, and Thomas Stewart, Randy and Ricky Marshall, and Nathan Mull.

The family will received friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville where the body was placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of John A. "Ott" Stewart to the Many Forks Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Genette Dye, 9670 Gumlog Road, Young Harris, GA 30582.

Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville in charge of all arrangements.
