A Pancake Supper will be held on Sunday, April 27th, 5:30-7:30pm, Hayesville First United Methodist Church, just off the square. This fundraiser is being sponsored by the Youth and Children's Ministries of the church. Donations will be accepted at the door. Clay County Democratic Clay County Democrats will be sponsoring a program concerning the health of Lake Chatuge and the Hiwassee River Watershed. It will be presented by Callie Moore at the Moss Memorial Library on April 28th at 6 p.m. The public is invited and encouraged to attend and learn more about important environmental issues. In the class, "Mining the Mother Lode", she will teach how to make the most of your ideas through exercises aimed at extracting the writer's potential. Darnell Arnoult is the author of "Sufficient Grace" and "What Travels with Us". Friday evening, May 2nd. at 5:30, meet Darnell Arnoult and hear her read at the Downtown Pizza in Murphy North Carolina. Diabetes Update at Moss Memorial Library Anyone whose life is affected by diabetes is welcome to come to a diabetic update at the Moss Library in Hayesville. Doctor Ellen Andrews will answer questions and explain the basics to beginners and anyone needing extra information about diabetes. Diabetes is a fast growing problem in our area. Education about proper management can make a significant difference in the course the disease will take. More education, fewer complications! We will review carbohydrate counting, how to read food labels and the use of meters and medications at this meeting from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, May 8th. Two baseball camps this Summer at YHC. Instructional Camp a full day camp is being offered for players ages 6-12. Time: 9-3 daily. Fee: $135 early registration / Postmarked after June 15th:$145. ELITE Camp: Elite camp is being offered to players ages 10-rising senior in high school. Time: 4-7 daily. Players MUST have a minimum of 3 years playing experience to attend the ELITE camp.
