Faye Davenport

Faye Davenport, 71, of Hayesville died Sunday (April 20, 2008) in a Gainesville, GA hospital. A native and lifetime resident of Clay County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Robert and Elzia Pearl Watson Buchanan. She retired after 31 years as a seamstress for Carolina Dress and was a member of the Old Shooting Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Robert W. Davenport; two sons, Donald Davenport and wife, Leona of Hayesville and David Davenport and wife, Mary of Tignall, GA; three sisters, Joyce Grant of Hiawassee, GA, Esta Berrong of Hiawassee, GA, and Lillie Lunsford of McDonough, GA; two brothers, L.D. Buchanan of Blairsville, GA and James Buchanan of Hiawassee; and four grandchildren, Allen Davenport and wife, Misty of Hayesville, Randy Davenport of Tignall, and Brandon and Austin Davenport of Hayesville.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Tuesday (April 22) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Revs. Gary Ashe and Jerry Stone officiated. Interment will be in the Mission Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Leon and Bruce Berrong, Allen, Austin, and Ervin Davenport, and Windall Anderson. Ernie Davenport will serve as honorary pallbearer.

The family received friends from 6-8 Monday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville.

The family requests memorials be made in memory of Faye Davenport to the Mission Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 115 Mission Hill Road, Hayesville, NC 28904.

Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville in charge of all arrangements.
