North Carolina Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service

Clay County nominations are now being accepted for the 2008 North Carolina Awards for Outstanding Volunteer Service.

This marks the 30th anniversary of the program that showcases North Carolina's most dedicated residents. Through the years, North Carolinians have proven their concern and compassion for their neighbors by volunteering in their local communities.

A local committee evaluates the nominations and selects five individuals, businesses, and/or groups to be recognized for their outstanding contributions to their communities. One of the five recipients will be nominated to receive the highest state award for outstanding volunteer service, the Medallion Award.

Nomination forms are available in Clay County at the following locations: Moss Memorial Library, Truett Memorial First Baptist Church, and Nantahala Bank and Trust.

Please return the completed forms to County Coordinator, Theresa Waldroup, PO Box 642, Hayesville, NC 28904, 12 Hiawassee Street, Truett Memorial First Baptist Church, 389-1625, no later than close of business June 27, 2008.
