Special Olympics Clay County

Letter to the Editor:

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter. As a Local Coordinator for Special Olympics Clay County, I had the honor of taking 22 athletes to the Far West Spring Regional Games in Jackson County on Friday, April 25th. These athletes were a true testament to the joy, strength, and the courage that is gained by participation in Special Olympics. Through our day was long, it was filled with many moments of happiness and multitudes of smiles!

I am humbles by the levels of commitment that the coaches and volunteers of Clay County have for thee athletes! Not only were we accompanied by the parents and grandparents of some of the athletes. but head coaches Rhonda Buchanan, Claudia Worley, and Van Rivenbark. local volunteers consisted of Shanda Cheeks, Autumn Jenkins, Thelma Mull, Rosie Penland, Julie Phillips, Norma Moody, Lauren Rogers, Georgia Bethel, Pat Moore, Sarah Bradshaw, Chelsea Christensen, Christina Coker, Elizabeth Hohmann, Clarissa Ledford, Kasey Lentz, Kaitlyn Moss, John Kindy, Emma Parker, Cassidy Newell, Alison Rivenbark, and Trevor Staton. Non of the this would be possible without the dedication provided by these volunteers!

Thank you for a tremendous job well done!
