For more information contact Janice Moore: 828-389-6394 Recycled Treasures Sale The Murphy Public Library will hold its Recycled Treasures Sale on Friday, May 2 continuing on Saturday, May 3, both days from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. There are lots of good deals for every member of the family. Dance at Senior Center This Friday, May 2nd, 2008 there'll be a dance at the Hayesville Senior Center located on Ritter road which is open to all ages whether your single or a couple. This activity has been so popular that the number of attendees have topped over 200 dancers, but they don't always show up at the same function. Dave Bartens' One- Man-Band has also been our live entertainer both in vocals & musical equipment. Now that we're over our winter months we'll have our Florida residents coming back to their mountain homes and it's always a pleasure to see them return. This dance starts at 7:30 p.m. and a donation of $5 per person covers soft drinks, plenty of food, door prizes, the biggest dance floor with in many counties, plenty of parking, great live entertainment and best of all great folks. If you haven't danced in many of our regulars who will help you along with your forgotten steps. Writing Workshop Darnell Arnoult, Tennessee Writer of the year for 2007, will teach a workshop Saturday May 3rd, 9:30 AM until 4:30 PM, at the Clay County Senior Center in Haysville, North Carolina. In the class, "Mining the Mother Lode", she will teach how to make the most of your ideas through exercises aimed at extracting the writer's potential. Darnell Arnoult is the author of "Sufficient Grace" and "What Travels with Us". Doctor Ellen Andrews will answer questions and explain the basics to beginners and anyone needing extra information about diabetes. Diabetes is a fast growing problem in our area. Education about proper management can make a significant difference in the course the disease will take. More education, fewer complications! We will review carbohydrate counting, how to read food labels and the use of meters and medications at this meeting from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, May 8th. There is no charge. Free WRAP classes Free weekly WRAP classes are being offered every Tuesday from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. in Clay County at the Hayesville office of Murphy Counseling (the old Smoky Mountain Center). Wellness Recovery Action Planning, i.e. WRAP, is a 10-week course that teaches you an approach for managing mental health and/or substance abuse symptoms that are interfering with your life.
