COMING UP

The Tusquittee Community Organization monthly meeting

to be held Tuesday, May 27 at 6:30 p.m.

The meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of every month at 6:30pm at the

Tusquittee Community Center on Downings Creek Road. The speaker and program

topic for the May meeting will be announced in next weeks newspaper.

Residents of and visitors to the Tusquittee Township as well as the entire county

are welcome and encouraged to attend. A typical meeting includes a delicious

covered dish dinner and an interesting speaker.  Topics include items of interest

to the community such as the proposed gun range at Nelsons Ridge, fire safety,

gardening, political candidates, and area history and heritage.  You are invited to

attend a casual evening that is both enjoyable and informative as well as have an

opportunity to receive one of five door prizes.

Blood Donors: save a life and see Hollywood

Red carpets, foot and hand prints on the walk of fame and catching a glimpse of movie stars-all maybe in teach for some lucky Red Cross blood donor. Everyone who donates blood or platelets May 1-31, 2008, will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a Hollywood vacation package. The package includes roundtrip Delta Air Lines tickets, a two-night weekend stay and a tour of Universal Studios.

Rummage and Bake Sale

The United Methodist Women of Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church in Young Harris, GA, are sponsoring a Rummage and Bake Sale on Saturday, May 17, from 9 AM - 2 PM. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the UMW mission emphasis project for this year - the support of a children's orphanage in Naryn, Kyrgyzstan. Come and see what treasures you can find! Sexual assault Support Offered

Rape and sexual assault have physical and emotional effects, both short-term and lasting. REACH of Clay County is holding a sexual assault support group for women in Hayesville. Call (828) 389-0797.

Stroke Support

A stroke support group meets

Al-Anon Meetings

Al-Anon, meets on Sunday night at 8 p.m. at Chatuge Regional Hospital in Hiawasse; Tuesday at noon and the Mountain Regional Library in Young Harris; Wednesday Night at 8 p.m. at the Mountain Presbyterian Church in Blairsville; and on Thursday at noon at the Episcopal Church of The Good Shepherd in Hayesville. Al-Anon is open to anyone who has been affected by someone else's drinking or drug use. Free WRAP classes

Free weekly WRAP classes are being offered every Tuesday from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. in Clay County at the Hayesville office of Murphy Counseling (the old Smoky Mountain Center). Wellness Recovery Action Planning, i.e. WRAP, is a 10-week course that teaches you an approach for managing mental health and/or substance abuse symptoms that are interfering with your life. Classes are free and you can begin at any time. There is HOPE for a better life! Helping Hands meet

British Empire

Daughters of the British Empire (DBE) is hoping to establish a local chapter in the North Georgia/Western North Carolina mountains area and would like to contact eligible women. The DBE is a charitable,nonprofit, nonpolitical American organization and membership is extended to women of British or British Commonwealth birth or ancestry and to women married to men of British or British Commonwealth birth.
