Future actors take pride

MUSICAL BLISS: Theater camp students learn to sing songs for Peter Pan with the help of a new musical teacher.

Congratulations to Peacock Pride on their 20th anniversary. This Summer Theater youth program has touched thousands of children over the years. Children from the ages of 8 to 18 are eligible for this exciting summer program. at the Peacock Playhouse.

 

This year the theme for the first session revolves around the musical "Peter Pan" by J.M. Barrie. The second session, Theater Arts of Shakespeare. The students will learn scenes from "The Tempest", William Shakespeare's final play. Classes in acting, singing, dancing, special effects, stage make-up and costume will be offered.

Students will work on the basics - characterization, improvisation, movement, speech and diction. They will learn music and dancing and they will create stage make-up and dress in costume to show case their talents in a finale on stage!

Our faculty is professional and well versed in their field. TooToo Cirlot, drama teacher for the first session, made her debut as Anne in The Diary of Anne Frank at The Peacock Playhouse. Since than, TooToo has appeared in several Licklog productions including; Death of a Salesman, Sylvia, Blythe Spirit and On Golden Pond. Ms.Cirlot has appeared in production of Departures and Better Places to Go at Oglethorpe University and has also appeared in the two major motion pictures, Daddy's Little Girls and We Are Marshall. Edie Kleinpeter, drama teacher for our second session is a professional equity actress and has appeared in numerous professional productions. Mrs. Kleinpeter has directed over 30 plays for Licklog Players and teaches theater for ICL at Young Harris College.

STAGE PRESENCE: Young students learn the craft of acting at Licklog in the first of two sessions this summer.

Edie Guice, dance, make-up, and special effects instructor, was trained with Marin Dance Theater of the San Francisco Ballet and the Pacific Northwest Ballet Company. Ms. Guice has worked with renown professionals from American Ballet Theater, Chicago's Joffery, The Boston Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, Lines Contemporary and Britain's Royal Ballet. Linda Allen and Becky Walker from the John C. Campbell Folk School will will also be joining us this year.

 

We are also happy to announce the engagement of Ms.Carol Smucker, music teacher. Ms. Smucker has enjoyed playing the piano all her life and through the years has accompanied various choral groups.

We are so very fortunate to have Ms. Adelaide Fullilove for a return engagement.

Our classes for the first session, "Peter Pan" begin Monday, June 9th and end Friday June 13th. The second session, "The Tempest", begins on Monday, June 23rd and ends on the 27th. Our day begins at 9am sharp and ends at noon. On Friday, June 13th and June 27th we will have a performance at noon with refreshments to follow. Our classes are exciting, invaluable activities that will enrich any child's life. Registration is limited and filling up fast, so register your child today! This summer let's get DRAMATIC!
