Culinary workshop features India Ruby Banerjee, a native of Calcutta, India will teach students about her country's cuisine on Saturday, June 14 at Stecoah Valley Cultural Arts Center from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. The workshop is $55 and students eat or take home the food they prepare during class. Call now for registration, 828-479-3364. Banerjee is currently a resident of Western North Carolina and works at Western Carolina University's library. Earlier this year, Ruby conducted a week long class in Indian cooking at the John C. Campbell Folk School. "I have learned to adapt laborious Indian cooking methods to simple and fun ways without compromising on taste".
The workshop menu includes cumin cauliflower, lentil soup, chicken curry, rice pilaf and tomato/ mango chutney.
