Cox makes entrance at YHC as president
In keeping with the year-long "Plant a Legacy" celebratory theme of the inauguration, a Gala for Green is planned for the evening of July 25 at Brasstown Valley Resort. Tickets can be purchased for this fundraising event at a variety of levels, including tree patron, rhododendron patron, and flowering patron. The theme of the Gala for Green incorporates the idea of sustaining our environment. A special menu is planned for the gala, with dishes from Bon Appétit, Y'all! Three Generations of Southern Cooking (Ten Speed Press, 2008) by Ms. Virginia Willis, a graduate of L'Academie de Cuisine and Ecole de Cuisine LaVarenne.
Ms. Cox earned an associate's degree in agriculture at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, and continued her studies at the University of Georgia, receiving a bachelor's degree in journalism, summa cum laude. She began her career as a newspaper reporter with The Gainesville Times and The Post-Searchlight in Bainbridge before entering Mercer University Law School, where she graduated with a juris doctorate degree, magna cum laude, and was editor of the Law Review. For 10 years, Ms. Cox practiced law in Atlanta and Bainbridge, and in 2007 was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Mercer.
