What could be more fun for area children than attending Kids Camp at Tri-County Community College this summer? How about a chance to attend for free?

Kids Camp will be held 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 11 - 15 on TCCC's Peachtree campus. Two full tuition scholarships to the camp will be awarded to the winners of an essay contest, open to students in Clay, Cherokee and Graham counties, ages 6 to 12.

"We are very pleased to offer this camp to the children of our area," said Dr. Donna Tipton-Rogers, President of Tri-County Community College. "We think Tri-County is the place for learning and discovery, whether you're 6 or 60."

The essays, on the subject, "What I Like Most About Summer," should be 500 words or less. All submissions should be mailed to: Tri-County Community College, Attn: Kids Camp Contest, 4600 East US Highway 64, Murphy, NC 28906; or by e-mail to: mtucker@tricountycc. edu.

This year's Kids Camp will include classes on art, journalism, hip-hop dancing, computers, science exploration and sports. Students will also participate in special activities on fire safety, hiking, animal pet care, exercise, nutrition and personal safety. The camp's $159 registration fee includes lunches.

Pre-registration and prepayment are required for Kids Camp; seating is limited to 20 students aged 6 - 9 and 20 students aged 10 - 12.
