Camelot opens Thursday at Peacock Playhouse
The summer musical at the Peacock Playhouse in Hayesville is always a crowd pleaser. Director Nancy Davis and Musical Director Paul Dyer are pleased with the play. They always seem to find just the right actors for the roles as regular theatergoers will remember from last summer's "Sound of Music." Dennis Muron, as King Arthur, makes his role come alive with a character the audience will care about---and he has a better voice than Richard Burton, who originated the role. Whitney Harrell, as Queen Guenevere, is as lovely as her voice in a role originated by Julie Andrews. Brian Barrentine takes over the Robert Goulet role as Sir Lancelot with a voice to delight theatergoers. He brings humor and passion to the role. These actors have big shoes to fill, but the audience should be delighted with them. The supporting players are also strong which is essential for a successful show. There is dancing, singing, adventure, suspense, a love story, an orchestra, and even a cute little dog. The costumes are beautiful; the backdrop is a work of art. "Camelot" should be an evening of great entertainment. The play will run July 24-27, August 1-3, and August 8-10. Evening performances star at 8PM with Sunday matinees at 2:30. There will be a special Saturday matinee on August 9th at 2 PM. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students.
The box office is open Monday through Friday 10-4. You can call for tickets 828-389-8632; 877-691-9906; 0r 828-305-6068.
