Barbershop Chorus ladies to perform locally The Smokie Mountain Melodies Ladies Barbershop Chorus will be performing in Hiawassee at "Music on the Square" on July 26 at 7:30 p.m. Smokie Mountain Melodies is a member of Sweet Adeline's International, which is a non-profit organization whose goal is to "harmonize the world". We are also interested in promoting the arts within the public schools. The music programs are especially important to us. For the last three years we have held contests within the area schools to chose an Adeline Idol of the year. First, second and third place winners are chosen at our yearly show in May by the audience. Monetary prizes are then awarded to the winners. We meet for practice every Tuesday night from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Blairsville.
